Wrangler Jeans & Western Style - The Story Behind an Iconic Cowboy Brand

There's something about a pair of Wrangler jeans that just feels like the American West.

Maybe it's the classic denim, the unmistakable stitching on the back pockets, or the connection to cowboys, rodeos, and country music. Whatever it is, Wrangler has become so much more than just a jeans brand.

But where did it all begin?

From Working Cowboys to a Western Fashion Icon

The story of Wrangler goes back to 1947, when the American clothing company Blue Bell introduced a new line of jeans designed especially for cowboys.

Working with a tailor known as Rodeo Ben, the company created denim that wasn't just supposed to look good. It had to be comfortable in the saddle, durable enough for ranch work, and tough enough to survive the rodeo arena.

Real rodeo cowboys helped test the jeans, and it didn't take long for Wrangler to become a familiar name in the Western world.

One of the brand's most recognizable designs is the legendary Cowboy Cut, with its classic fit and signature W stitching on the back pockets.

In 1974, Wrangler strengthened its connection to rodeo culture when its jeans and shirts received the official endorsement of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.

More Than Denim - A Little Piece of Western Culture

Over the decades, Wrangler became part of the look we associate with the American West.

Today, you'll spot Wrangler jeans on working cowboys, country music fans, vintage denim lovers, and anyone who appreciates that timeless, slightly rugged style.

And I think that's what makes the brand so special.

Wrangler doesn't have to try too hard to look Western. Western heritage has been part of its story from the very beginning.

Whether you love the classic Cowboy Cut, a pair of vintage-inspired flares, or a relaxed denim look with your favorite boots, there's something effortlessly cool about Wrangler.

And that's exactly why I wanted to dedicate a little space on Darling & Pine to this iconic American brand.

So, let's take a look at some of my favorite Wrangler-inspired finds!
